Oakwood is a fellowship of generations encouraging one another to passionately follow Jesus Christ by:
- Connecting with God
- Growing in God’s Word
- Serving Others
- Going and telling the world!
The very heart and soul of Oakwood is to share the good news of Jesus and make disciples as the Scriptures teach. Oakwood is made up of imperfect people, who worship a perfect Savior, Who loves us just as we are. We don’t pretend to be perfect and we don’t expect you to either.
Connect with God
We have a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Some dress in suits and some dress in shorts/ jeans and t-shirts. Our services are comprised of music that is mainly contemporary in nature, with the frequent addition of fresh and new arrangements of some of the great hymns written throughout history, as well as video and other media, followed by an encouraging and challenging message from our pastor. Grow in God’s Word
We also value community and its importance in our spiritual growth. We encourage all to get involved in a Life Group, which is our name for “Sunday School”, because we were created as relational beings to “do life” with others and never alone. We chose the name ‘Life Group’ to reflect our desire to minister and develop relationships for eternity. Beyond church membership is becoming a part of one of the many Life Groups we have to offer. Wherever you are at in life we have a Life Group that you can be a part of to be encouraged, supported and challenged in your faith journey.
We also offer Growth Groups in the Fall and Spring semesters. These are our discipleship groups that meet in various homes and on Wednesday nights at the church. These groups are comprised of topical studies as well as studies of individual books of the bible.
We also encourage everyone to serve in at least one ministry within the church. Every member is a minister and is important to the Kingdom of God. The Bible tells us that we all have been given gifts and talents to contribute and use to serve God and minister to others and we have several opportunities for you to get involved. Click here for available opportunities.
Go and Tell
Jesus tells us in Matthew 28:19-20 to go tell others and make disciples of all nations. You don’t have to be a biblical scholar to do this. We all have an “I-Story” and sharing your story of God’s faithfulness in your life could be that catalyst that God uses to draw another to Himself through your simple act of obedience!
